Continuing our experiments with format, we’re introducing a Pre-Concert Reading Group to read and discuss a book related to the theme of our concerts. The sessions will be facilitated by Julie and Elizabeth. We are aiming for a relaxed and informal, yet thoughtful discussion of the ideas presented in the book.
In advance of the concert, the Pre-Concert Reading Group will be discussing The Ecological Rift by John Bellamy Foster.
We will meet every 2 weeks for 4 sessions beginning on Saturday, September 10 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Privately-Owned Public Space (POPS) at 120 Park Avenue, across from Grand Central Terminal.
The reading group is free and open to everyone. Come to 1, 2, 3 or all 4 sessions.
Our next concert will focus on Ecology and Socialism. We'll start the evening begin with a discussion of guano trade in the 19th century and the metabolic rift.
Alyssa Battistoni will join us to speak and lead us in a discussion of CAPITALISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE
